eretria: a cup of Assam (Sheppard)

Back home after two hours of sleep thanks to an early flight, but at least there was something shiny waiting for me when I returned, so

I'll get to the positive things later, for now, I'm a bit cranky.

1. Pseudo Sheppard/Weir stuff. DON'T GO THERE. At all. Even they are weirded out by it. Don't force an OTP on the viewers, it's going to backfire with a vengeance.

2. I'm sorry to say, but everyone who stood around Elizabeth's bed in the infirmary was a complete dumbass. Weir never would have asked Sheppard to harbour another consciousness in his brain. Rodney never should have considered it to be a good idea. He should have fought, and yes, he should have been kicking and screaming, or at the very least bitch-slapping John for even considering to try this out of a screwed sense of loyalty.
Why did John agree to do this at all? He's one of the most private people on the entire show, and he just agrees to share his brain and his innermost thoughts with an alien entity? I'm sorry, but no, no and no again.
And again with Rodney agreeing. What's with that? Cadman in his head was causing him convulsions and nearly short-circuited his brain. How can he possibly think it's a good idea for John to try?

3. The command codes. Oh, PLEASE. That should have been the first thing to take care of.

4. John should have been the bigger threat than Elizabeth, if only because his gene controls Atlantis. This would have been a nice way to show some more interaction with the city. *sigh*

For the "uhm, I'm not sure here, but it's kind of cute if this wasn't so serious":

If anyone's a romantic at heart here, it's Rodney. He' the one who mentioned the "saying a last goodbye" at first. And while he looked a bit weirded out by the prospect of the aliens using Sheppard and Weir for their "kiss", he didn't seem squicked by the thought of two people catching up on lost time. (Experience after Epiphany, hm?)

Caldwell has it bad for our dear Dr. Weir. I only hope she gets her head out of her ass anytime soon about it and stops bitching at him at every chance she gets. The beginning of the episode was a step in the right direction, I only hope it stays that way.

For the good (well, mostly good):

- Elizabeth in bad-ass mode. Her movements were a bit too jerky to really belong to a seasoned fighter, but that can be chalked off to having to manoeuvre another body. Nice to see Dr. Weir stripped away and something else revealed.

- John alternating between bad-ass and supposedly himself. Nice touch that you never really could tell for certain if it was him or not. And the "Colonel Sheppard is screaming in my head like you wouldn't believe" comment? Oh, ow. Can we have fic, please?

- Ronon. He may be a fighter, but deep down, he's still very young, and he trusts John more than is healthy. So, I didn't see his trust as out of character, but as perfectly in-character. Although, really. One bullet? He has taken worse and kept walking.

- Teyla. Oh, Teyla. I could do without TPTB foisting Sheppard/Teyla on us, but the caring for her more than she knows? Yeah. But then again, so does John for all of his team. This is what makes him vulnerable. This is what makes him who he is. So, I don't see this as a shipping subplot, but as a deeper glimpse into John Sheppard. Thalan could have said the very same thing had it been Ronon or Rodney with the gun.
(But, still. Poor, poor Teyla. Some fall-out of that would be nice, too. Preferably non-shippy.)

- Lorne! Lorne is back! And he has a voice like liquid silk when trying to calm the crazy person. Hmmm. (Just ... Did they do something to his hair?)

- Rodney. Black shirt. Need I say more? Really?

- Ahah HAH! The wristband is missing in the infirmary scene!

So, in a nutshell: I'm torn. Maybe it'll win me over when I've had some sleep and a warm meal.
