Okay, yes, because I have no clue and really, really have problems with Teal'c (not that I don't like him, I just can't connect with him at all. Doesn't click. Not for one microt.) and thus watch little SG-1:

Can you, dear SG-1 versed people on my flist, rec me a few good Sam-based episodes?

In other news, because I'm feeling the urge: How do I get my Alias-fu back? Because I do want to finish Magenta one of these days ...

Ummm! It can be a bit tough, as I tend to sit there waiting for Daniel to come on screen. But Grace in season 7 springs to mind. It is the inspiration for SGA's Grace Under Pressure and has a concussed Sam trapped alone on the Prometheus, working through various issues, including rescue, with the visions of her team. Her chat with Jack is lovely and kills the Jack/Sam OTP dead.

Otherwise, maybe 48 Hours (season 5? Where Teal'c is trapped in the gate and they bring in Rodney to help get him out (which he recommends just ditching Teal'c as he must already be dead, so you might like it, being a Teal'c lover *g*). Rodney's first episode, anyway.

I know and adore 48 hours. As well as Redemption (that was the 2-parter, right?).
Hmn, yes. :o)

When I need to get into an Alias mood, I find watching a careful selection of episodes from the first half of season two usually does it. (For me, it's typically parts of Cipher, Dead Drop minus the bit at the end where Vaughn lives, and the parts of Passage involving Sark or Irina--since that gets you the Jack too and tends to avoid most of the Vaughn. :))

Would love for you to finish Magenta!

Thought you might! I still get wibbly when I watch that scene in the infirmary where Rodney describes giving up the piano.

And I do actually like Sam. Especially when she and Daniel start in on the techno/anthro babble at the same time and confuse the hell out of Jack. He can barely cope with one, but both just gobsmacks him... *g*

Auburn and I are already planning on some marathon Alias watching. And she promised to kick my ass - so there is a good chance of it happening. In all seriousness, this story is in WiP status for so long, it's ridiculous. I'm actually ashamed, but still so damn blocked on one pivotal scene that it just doesn't click. *sigh* Maybe I need a collective kick up the ass.

I completely understand--which is why I try not to hassle you (or anyone else with an long-time WIP I'd like finished) about it. In other fandoms I've got fics that haven't been worked on--or in some cases thought about--for something like six years. I figure letting other people's WIP fade quietly into the ether is the price I pay for not being hassled too often about my own.

I think you can see why when I took up writing again with Alias, I swore not to start posting any fic until it was actually done!

Hmm. So, keep in mind that my knowledge is a bit dusty, okay? This means I don't remember if the episodes were particulary good.

1x13 Hathor has some kickass Sam and Janet in it. Then there's 1x14 which has caring Sam. You could watch 1x16 Enigma if you want to see her flirting with the same actor who played Simon on SGA.

2x07 Message in a Bottle features Sam figuring things out.

The same goes for 3x14 Foothold.

4x19 Prodigy is also heavy on the Sam stuff.

Then there's 5x03 Ascension, another episode with one of her love interests. Yes, an ascended being. 5x05 was more of a team episode, but hey, novelty appeal: Sam fucked up.

Again, remember: I'm fishing in the murky, murky waters of my memory.

Er, considering I am only halfway through season 2 of SGA (and not even sequentially) and have seen the grand total of 5 random episodes of SG-1 from season 9 and 3 from season 1, I wouldn't have a clue. Unfortunately seeing the rest of SGA is kinda the priority at the moment, damn stupid Australia being so far away from the rest of the television world.

My Alias-fu never really left, but then again I never truly took it seriously in the first place. Or actually watched it all that much. Alias-fanfu might be the better phrase. I'd say just don't go beyond the very start of season three.

7.13 - Grace (http://www.tv.com/stargate-sg1/grace/episode/251980/summary.html) - Erm. Kinda pretty much like "Grace Under Pressure" :x (but there is bonus Craig Veroni!)

Do you have the SGA episodes, though? in digital format, I mean?

You were into Alias, too? Now that is great. Really great. There can never be too many old-school Alias-people on my flist. Because, yeah, old school. Anything beyond season 2 had better not existed in my world. *sigh*

Okay. I'm supposing Craig Veroni should ... oh, wait. Yes. It should ring a bell. *slaps forehead*

Nope, I don't. There is a great deal of pain about this fact as well.
When I was in the UK I caught some of the middle ones from season 2 before having to leave the country. The friend I was staying with only let me watch them if he could see SG-1. Computer problems have so far prevented me from acquiring digital versions and now lack of time is winning.

I am an old school Alias person who very probably owes you feedback for Magenta and other stories. *hangs head in shame* I repent!
There was an executive decision made regarding Alias, where I stopped watching after about 4 episodes of season three. No need to corrupt my mind anymore than needs be, plus I could always slide back into the land of fic.

*ponders*
I'm about to send out the rest of season two to a friend in Canada, anyway, and ... well. Swap you season two for a postcard from Australia?

When I have strange and random urges to get back some Alias love, I usually watch Jo's videos. Those always make me want to watch old episodes and read fic.

*blink*

You can have a postcard for everyday of the week in exchange for season two if you so wish. In fact you may very well never want to see a postcard ever again.

Hmm, much as I love SG, it's hit or miss whether I can give you eps fitting a specific criteria...

+ 105 - The First Commandment - Sam backstory
+ 302 - Seth - Sam kicks ass
+ 415 - Chain Reaction - not majorly Sam, but still has some good Sam bits...
+ 605 - Nightwalkers - has, I think, take Charge Sam
+ 708 - Space Race - cool!Sam
+ 709 - Avenger 2.0 - scientist!Sam
+ 801-2 - New Order P1 & 2 - major Sam storyline
+ 806 - 808 - all have a TakeCharge!Sam, which is very cool
+ 811 - Gemini - all about Sam. Kinda.
+ 815-820 - major storylines for just about all of SG1, Sam included

And there endeth my knowledge. And as someone said above, Grace is a great Sam ep. I'm sure there are other but a) I've forgotten and b) we're heading into Sam/Jack territory.

that's really funny you said that, well a while back from the present date that i'm writing this actually but i was just thinking about magenta. what you had down so far was a really awesome piece of work. do you think you're going to end up continuing it? not trying to harass you here. just simple curiousity from a huge fan.

I am. I have brainstormed on it lately, but I was so damn disillusioned with Alias after season 2 that I lost my writing-fu for that show. I started hating Sydney, and that just makes it incredibly difficult to write her. But I AM going to finish. You're not harassing, it's a valid question. If you have a good idea how to go back to finding enthusiasm for the show, I'm all ears. Because while it'll work to finish without it, it'll be easier to finish with it.
