I thought it was said that no one would see the video messages that were recorded in "Letters from Pegasus" - then how come John has Rodney's message? And what was he doing with it? (Oh, the possibilities!)
Other than that, this episode, especially the ending, has made me both sniffly and incredibly, incredibly happy. Oh, Rodney. Oh, team.
Now, off to

He may have kept it just in case he needed to show it if something happened to Rodney. (God forbid.) If that happened, I think John would've looked for her and passed on the message.

Date: 2006-09-09 05:54 pm (UTC)After Ford ran into the Wraith scoopy-beam, John didn't have much of a leg to stand on in defending him. And with Cadwell still prowling around... So when Weir suggested they clear out Ford's room, he didn't argue.
Most of the things would be sent back to Earth, to Ford's family, but everything would have to be sorted and cleared of anything pertaining to the mission. And, as ranking officer, John had that duty. Not that he would've trusted it to anyone else. (Though he might take Teyla up on her offer to help.)
And it was just weird, to be rifling through Ford's things. They'd had to do this already for the other soldiers who had died--but they'd been dead. John knew Ford was still alive, was still expecting to bring him back and it was just weird to have to do this.
Then his hand hit the camcorder and John had to sit down. The camera's memory hadn't been deleted when Rodney had copied it to a laptop to compress. These were private, and the right thing to do would be to delete it. But, for too many, this was the last they had to prove that these people had been alive and on Atlantis.
Had Ford even recorded a message for himself? In the rush to get everyone else's messages, had he remembered to sit down and turn the camera around?
Probably, he wouldn't have forgotten his grandparents' worry.
John stood. Sliding the camera into his pocket, he turned to clear out Ford's desk.
