(For the record, yes, I am desperate enough to watch the tiny dial-up file I downloaded for reuploading for
The beginning ... notice how at first, they walk next to each other, all three of the, ad then when it's up the stairs, Elizabeth leads and John and Rodney follow - next to each other, almost shoulder to shoulder (not John walking next to Elizabeth with Rodney following, as it could have been, too), and stay that way the entire time, and then, when they leave, even turn on their heel simultaneously? I'll leave you all to do the interpreting of that subtext. ;o)
Uhm. Just to begin withh a gripe: Why the hell do they always drag Carson everywhere these days? The man's a geneticist, and their CMO. You don't send you CMO constantly out on missions. That's what other medics are there for.
And then: Good lord, Carson, SHUT UP.
Rodney being actually selfless, without even thinking about it. Lovely, that. We all knew he had it in him, good to see that TPTP have noticed it, too.
John and Teyla. They're so freakishly good together, why don't they have more scenes alone?
The look on John's face when he says "I gotta get his tags". Break me, why don't you.
And in between all the doom and gloom, Radek got a haircut. *squeak*!
And Rodney smoked pot in college. Uh-huh. We all said it, didn't we? (I get the feeling that one of the writers was projecting, here, though. Especially the "entire loaf of white-bread" line.)
Oh. My. GOD. We're getting John backstory. Excuse me while I hyperventilate.
I know that I shouldn't be distracted be the beige BDUs, but, uh ... damn, they look really fine, stretching over his cute little bum.
The score for John's hallucination is a thing of beauty. A little haunting, a little wistful, a lot ... aching. Marvellous.
And, and, can I just say that John hallucinating and interacting with the guy / Teyla is one of the finest things I've seen in a while in terms of John-ness? And prettiness.
Smarter people than me will produce fine meta on John's backstory, but for now, I'm just incredibly happy that we got it, but that they didn't give us too much, that there still is room for speculation.
Tell me you're KIDDING. Tell me John did not just shoot Rodney in the chest.
TELL ME.
Okay, so, it wasn't the chest, apparently. My heart still stopped for a few way too long moments.
"You shot me" and "I can't believe you shot me." Heh. Oh, Rodney.
And I adored, adored and hearted John's exasperated laugh in the "Get some sleep, Rodney." over the umpteenth repeat of that sentence.
In conclusion: Team-love, again. Teyla being smart. Carson not annoying me competely, even though I feared he would. Rodney more or less flashing bac to Trinity, when he couldn't shut the experiment off. John's backstory-hallucination. Oh, THANK YOU. And Teyla understands. Of course she does. Because she's Teyla, and probably the closest thing to a sister John will ever have. No shippy vibes there, just trust and understanding. Lovely.
Also: The only one witnessing the full extent of John's hallucination was Teyla. However, Rodney, despite being wounded, must have caught glimpses - the radio message John keeps sending, the mentioning of sand ... Tag-fic, anyone?
