If you haven't heard about it, you're not to blame, since the media put a thick, heavy cloak of silence over it. It's not Paris Hilton, it's not about money, it's not about kittens being rescued from a tree.

It's about a man being killed. About a man being brutally tortured by three young men over the course of 24 hours, and the man finally being killed.

His body was found ten days later.

When the murderers were caught, their only defense was: He was gay.
(Which, reportedly, he wasn't. - but does it even matter which sexual preferences he had? Murder is murder is murder.)

If this is the world we're living in, if this is what is really works as a excuse for a crime out there...

I cannot put the rage I feel over this into words eloquently, so despite the brutality, I urge you to read this and this post as well as one of the maybe four newspaper articles and get informed, since the media doesn't.

This is fucking breathtaking in its vileness. Heavens! He was gay, so it was justified to beat him for hours and shoot him in a field?

Looks like a picture book definition of hate crime to me. Murder made easy. Just claim your victim was gay, and that you panicked (for several hours, while sending pictures and making phonecalls) and you will go free! And no press will bother you!

I not only posted the links and my own mini-rant on my LJ, but I also just fired off an email to the Washington Post about this.

Here's hoping there are enough of us screaming for justice that "the squeaky wheel gets greased", so to speak.
