Continuation of watching 5.07

The one good thing about this episode? Was Rodney eyeing up John's turtleneck.

First off, I had a very frustrating weekend, so maybe this is colouring my perception.

Starting again at 20 minutes into the episode:

Carson, you're an idiot.

Sergeant Dusty, you grate on my nerves badly. Why do you have to walk and behave like a guy? Why can you not behave normal - why the need to overcompensate and be all manly badass? Thank you writers for once again misunderstanding women.

And, so no reaction over the death of a team-member from the supposedly oh-so-cool all-woman's team?

Uh-huh. And the scientist, Dr. Ezri, is the damsel in distress, huh? Oh, *headdesk*

So, why is Carson running around in the fog?

So, the zombies have good ears. Ever thought about using flashbangs, guys? The flash won't help, but the bang certainly should incapacitate them. How come the military guys on this mission don't think of that? ALL THREE OF THEM?

And, hi, John, what an idiotic plan to not have a back-up plan. When you're done with this episode, writers, please return John's brain and put it back in his head?

What do you need the ultrasonic burst for when you have the squeaking of the well? *headdesk*

For the fact that apparently, even Michael couldn't control the zombies, they're suprisingly easy to kill.

HOW IS THE FEMALE CHARACTERISATION SO BAD???? The scientist stays behind because she's had enough of mad science?
And, please, spare us the pointless Carson romance.

My worst moment was when they were interrogating villager-dude and John kept his gun trained at his chest long after he'd stopped being a threat, because John had a gun and he could.

The last half, I rooted for the zombies.

And isn't that bad, after an episode like "The Shrine"?

Yes, the gun pointed at the villager bothered me, too. What was the point of that? And the gun swirling afterward? Nothing but showing off in front of the girls. John isn't normally this brainless around women who are his UNDER HIS COMMAND.

I think that says it all. Definitely the weakest ep this season. (Also, I will never get over my disgust for the fistbump. Srsly, what the hell was that??)

Yes. YES on the fistbump. That was disgusting and awful. And apparently a Flanigan & McGilion improv. Which makes it all the worse.

I read that and it made me cringe even more. Oh, Joe and Paul! Your joke is completely OOC for your characters. At least for Joe. :(

This ep was awful, I knew this ep would be a disaster when I heard that Mallozi wrote it.

I rarely pay attention to who writes the bad episodes, but if he wrote "Irresistible", too, then I wouldn't be surprised.
Gah, the brainlessness.
And I still can't believe that half the fandom loved Sergeant Dusty. She was a parody of a strong woman, not admirable.

I hate to say it but as long as the boys are good, I fear some parts of fandom don't care about the rest.

Yep... this ep is best viewed with the audio off and eyes closed.

Am in agreement that the best part was Rodney triple taking on John's turtleneck... otherwise... sooooooooooo bad.

If it hadn't been for that scene, I think I might even delete it. BAD. Oh, so bad.

"Said hello [to] Paul McGillion back who dropped by the production offices on his way to his wardrobe fitting for 'The Seed.' I pitched him 'Whispers.' He was predictably delighted at the prospect of being stranded off-world with an all-female team."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog)

You know, I really don't have words for this. Why is it that an episode like The Shrine has to be followed by this?
