Snowflake challenge, day 1
Jan. 2nd, 2012 06:05 pmA little late, but, oh, the idea is so very lovely:

I'll do five, since two of the recs are co-written:
Conditio sine qua non: ~ 6 k words, Alias, Sydney/Sark, UST. This was for a challenge, and, gosh, was it ever fun. Writing the banter between the two felt natural, and creating the friction was delicious. Also, looking back, I'll have to say that my English was already quite good back then.
Three Fates: ~160 k words, SGA, John/Rodney, Rodney/Elizabeth, John/Rodney/Elizabeth, Time Travel, Angst, Drama, Threesome, Action/Adventure: This probably won't count, since it's a co-written story (with Auburn), but this was the longest and hardest thing I've ever written. It was absolutely fascinating to delve into the characters, and maneuvering between the relationships was both fun and hard work, but the end result, I think, is funny, painful, gorgeous, makes you think and stays with you long after you've finished the story.
Cocytus: SGA, team, gen. Another co-written one, this time with murron. Probably the scariest thing I've ever written. Not overtly scary, but deeply unsettling. You won't believe how much fun it was, even if we both had to leave a light on the night after finishing it.
Nobody does it better: ~ 32 k words, SGA/SG-1 crossover, I'll use the summary to describe it: In which everyone loves Rodney, Vala is a stowaway, John is smart, Sam is flummoxed, Daniel is jealous, Ronon and Teyla realise all Earth people are peculiar, and Elizabeth is reminded that guests are like fish. (Pegasus Project based teamfic with a side-dish of John/Vala and Sam/Rodney - Prequel to "A question of perspective Or Reality Doesn't Always Come in Second to Fantasy") This story. I struggled with it. Fought with it. It took me forever. But in the end, and with the invaluable help of Auburn and murron, I finished it and I'm quite happy with it. Another story that shows my love for Sam/Rodney.
(The principle) of silver lining: 20 k words, SPN, Dean/Cas, with bonus Bobby, Sam and Meg. And let me tell you, Meg? Was a hell of a lot of fun to write. I also struggled with the NC-17 scene like no-one's business, but in the end, this is a story I ove dearly, because it's both gritty yet delicate.
And, if I'm very honest here, I would love to rec the Inception BigBang I'm still working on, but of course, that's still work in progress. So, later.
