That was just ... oddly reminiscent of Sanctuary.
As in, woo, boy, bad episode, interspersed with some good funny bits. Really, everyone who doesn't want to pinch John's (or JF's really, even though I dearly hop no fan will EVER do that) bum now just to see him do that absolutely adorable little hop and scandalised look afterward is insane.)
But, generally? Uh, really bad episode. Had potential but absolutely didn't live up to it. Reminded me of Andromeda that way. All righteous with flat characterisation and no real problem solving at the end. Huh. But I guess they have to dip into the toilet head first every once in a while, huh?

So, nitpicks?

- Teyla, way to keep a low profile about Atlantis. Really, just blurt it out, no problem.

I loved that "Why do I never see it coming," line because that so sums up our poor Shep - but I think I kinda missed something with that whole plot thing. So did the bald guy have a deal made with the son and the daughter? And why would the son trust him if he's supposed to marry the daughter? And if he's supposed to marry the daughter, why'd she go try and seduce Sheppard? And then they were just gonna leave anyways before it all went to hell?

Oh well. I did rather enjoy watching Ronon and John fighting in this ep, though.

It reminded me of Sanctuary in that "let's hand in our brains for a nice long massage before we put them back in" kind of way.
Seriously, why would they give the villagers the gene therapy? What good would it do? They have no idea how to handle Ancient technology, and they have no real political system, so it'd all end in blood anyway. And the deal - uh, if the require the drones, how will the other city be protected against the Wraith? Also, the Wraith haven't been there for many years - uh, Atlantis was besieged until the Ancients fled, so how come this city was never discovered and blown to smithereens?
Why did John go for such a STUPID blondie? I mean, at least the other women he was with had some kind of class and style, but this one? Her one braincell must have been awfully lonely under those curls. Maybe that's why John went for her, he wanted to save the poor lonely braincell from dying of isolation.
Eh. Apart from the few funny bits, it was one hell of a bad episode. Especially the tacky set. Seriously, that room John stayed in? Could have been straight from one of the Harlequin fics.
My one consolation is that maybe John forgot to turn off the radio while blondie was "attacking" him, and that he'll get the ribbing of his lifetime from Rodney, Ronon and Teyla when they're back on Atlantis.

I'm not sure, but... Didn't someone do this to Michael Shanks?

scandalised look
Hee! The cap's probably perfect for an OMG! icon.

That's exactly the reason I'm mentioning this: Yes, someone once did this to MS, and I was horrified to hear that. Seriously, do fans think that actors are public property? I hope JF will never have to experience fans like that. They shine a bad light upon all of us relatively normal fans.

The cap's probably perfect for an OMG! icon.
